Tomato chutney

Ingredients
Onion-1,chopped
Tomato-4,chopped
Garlic-4
Ginger-1/2"piece
Red chilli-2
Green chilli-3
Tamarind-1 tsp
Black pepper-1/2 tsp
Channa dal-1 tbsp
Urad dal-1 tsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Cashew nut(optional)-2
Hing-a pinch
Grated coconut-1/4 cup
Coriander leaves,Curry leaves-few
Salt-as required
Sesame oil-1 tbsp

To temper
Oil-1 tsp
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves-few

Method
Heat a tbsp of oil in a pan.Add channa dal and urad dal and let it turn brown.
Add red and green chillies,hing and cumin seeds.when the seed splutters add ginger,garlic,cashew nut and saute it for a minute.Add onion,pepper,tamarind,curry leaves and coriander leaves and saute till onion turns translucent.

Add tomato and saute it for 2 minutes.
Then add coconut and required salt.give a stir and cover it with the lid. let this mixture cook it in a low flame for 15 minutes.stir in between.

Cool down completely and grind it to a coarse paste.
Finally temper it with mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Serve it with idli,dosa,paniyaram

Notes
You can skip the onion and increase the amount of tomato.
Replace red chilli with chilli powder to get bright red color.
