Chicken/kozhi varuval

Ingredients
Chicken-300gms
Onion-1 big size,thinly sliced
Tomato-1 big size,sliced
Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder-a pinch
Ginger-1 inch piece,minced
Garlic-3,minced
Cumin/jeera-1/2 tsp
Green chillies-2
Salt- as required
Sesame oil-2 tbsp

To roast and grind
Coriander seeds-2 tsp
Cumin-1 tsp
Black pepper-1 tsp
Red chilli-2

To temper
Cloves-5
Cinnamon-2 inch piece
Black cardamom-1
Bay leaf-1
Javitri-1

Method
Dry roast all the ingredients listed in the table 'to roast and grind'to a coarse powder.

In a pan,heat the oil, and add the items given in the table 'to temper'.
Add mustard and cumin seeds.when they splutter add ginger,garlic and grinded powder and saute it for few seconds.Add sliced onion,green chilli and turmeric and saute till it turns translucent.Then add tomates and let it turn soft.

Now add chicken and salt and blend well with the mixture.
Close the lid and let it cook in simmer till the chicken is tender.stir in between.do not add water.Chicken oozes out oil and saute it till it becomes dry.
Garnish with coriander leaves.


Notes
Add curry leaves while tempering.
Adjust spiciness to your taste.
